限定 500枚の Gary Hoey のサイン入り "UTOPIA" CD到着!!! 約 2年前に 6曲目の "Only Human" がフリーで DLできて、すぐにニュー・アルバムが出るのかと思っていたら、かなり待たされた感はあるけどコンスタントにアルバムをリリースしてくれるので嬉しいです! CDを注文した時点で MP3も DLできるので聴けたんだけど CDの到着を待ってました! さあ、"UTOPIA" を聴こうっと!!!

CDが到着してから Gary Hoey のニューアルバム "UTOPIA" を聴いています。前作の "AMERICAN MADE" からインストよりも自ら Voをとり歌う曲が増え、"UTOPIA" では 12曲中 9曲が Vo入りという力の入れようです。でも、Gary Hoey のインストの曲は歌メロの所もギターを弾いているので歌詞を乗せるのは、さほど難しいことではないような気がします。マイスペースで "UTOPIA" から 3曲 "Utopia", "Walk Away", "Inevitable" を聴くことができます! この 3曲を聴くだけでも Gary Hoey の Voにギターがヘヴィーで良い感じだと思います。まだ、クレジットを見ていないのでカヴァー曲をやっているのか分かりませんが（MP3があるので CDは開封してません）、個人的に気に入ったのはメロディアスでギターの音色が素晴らしい "Reminds Me Of You", "Only Human"、ギターソロが素晴らしい "You're Killing Me"、そして、モーターヘッドのような疾走感がありヘヴィーなリフの "Barn Burner" です!!! 残念ですが多分、日本盤は出ることはないと思うので興味のある方はオフィシャルサイトで購入しましょう!

最初はインスト中心のアルバムだったけど、ここ 2作を中心に歌詞を入れ自ら歌うことでメッセージを伝えています。Gary Hoey というと、その昔 Zakk Wylde と OZZY のギターリストの座を争った実力者でもあり、もし、Gary Hoey が OZZY のギターリストとしてプレイしていても面白かったかもしれませんね! でも、ソロの道に進み "Hocus Pocus" がヒットして確固たる地位を築き、サーフィンやクリスマス・ソングのインストのアルバムをリリースしたり、クリスマスが近づくとクリスマス・ソングのツアーをしたりと、アメリカ国内で成功しコンスタントにアルバムをリリースしています。今年も既に Ho Ho Hoey Rockin’ Holiday Tour 2010 が決定しています! 観たいなあ!!!
